New book series 'Central Africa Collection/Collection Afrique Centrale'

Mission statement of the collection
Central Africa has been one of the cradles of African humanities, yet the region has not benefitted from an academic book series. Our new series, Central Africa Collection, aims to fill this gap. The series proposes to re-center the scientific contributions on the region back into African Studies and beyond. The collection offers original and high-quality studies on Central Africa, but is not confined to any national or regional perspective. It will serve as a portal between Africa and the rest of the world, a platform for critical debates between specialists from different geographical and disciplinary horizons, and a crucible for original concepts, exportable outside the continent.

In Central Africa, scholars have forged some of the most innovative intellectual paradigms, including the longue durée history of Bantu migrations, the critical use of oral sources, the concept of "situation coloniale", the commandant state, the politics of the belly, and the modernity of witchcraft. Today, cutting edge research continues to position Central Africa at the forefront of the continent's most original concepts, field research, and empirical knowledge. Based on these strengths, the series Central Africa Collection publishes the best manuscripts in history, anthropology, political science, colonial and postcolonial studies, and cultural studies.

Information for authors
The series welcomes monographs and coherent edited volumes by established scholars as well as by promising young researchers, and embraces diversity in terms of gender, nationality and ethnicity.

Books are published in English or French and are written for a global audience of scholars. All manuscripts are subject to peer review.

Open Access publishing is encouraged. Financial support will be examined on individual title-basis and in consultation with the author.

Proposals and manuscript can be submitted to CAC@lup.be

Wherever appropriate, authors are invited to suggest African publishers with whom their work might be published in partnership with Leuven UP.
