Image [&] Narrative is a peer-reviewed e-journal on visual narratology and word and image studies in the broadest sense. It questions the mutual shaping of literary and visual cultures. Besides tackling contemporary and transhistorical theoretical issues, the journal also offers a platform for autotheoretical explorations, artistic research, and experimental or environmental art research. The journal publishes thematic special issues, guest-edited by specialized scholars in the field, alongside selections of original research articles. In addition to reviews of relevant, recent publications, several issues also incorporate an ‘experiences’ section reflecting on research practices in more open and hybrid forms.

Image [&] Narrative is bilingual and publishes contributions in either English or French, allowing for the fostering of cross-cultural and interdisciplinary dialogue across linguistic and scientific traditions.

Open Access journal
2 issues annually (June/December)
