New director for Leuven University Press

LEUVEN, March 2023 – Leuven University Press welcomes Nienke Roelants as its new director. As of 1 March 2023, she succeeds Veerle De Laet in this position.


Nienke RoelantsNienke has extensive professional experience at various educational and trade publishing houses. As a publisher, she was responsible for the development of academic book funds in the fields of history, philosophy, political & social sciences, and art & culture. Before her career in publishing, Nienke worked as a researcher at KADOC and obtained a PhD in history at UGent. Recently, as a postdoctoral researcher, she co-authored a book project on academic freedom throughout the history of KU Leuven. Together with the solid publishing team, Nienke looks forward to further developing Leuven University Press as a leading international academic publisher.
