The past few weeks have been busy as our team attended several conferences, meeting with scholars, authors, librarians, and publishing partners from across Europe and beyond. Such gatherings provide valuable opportunities to present our new and upcoming publications, explore new avenues for collaboration, and strengthen our relations with the scholarly communities we serve.
As a university press committed to disseminating high-quality research, we greatly value these face-to-face encounters. Conferences remain essential for initiating new publishing projects, discussing ideas with authors, and engaging directly with readers.
Urban History at the EAUH Conference
At the European Association for Urban History (EAUH) Conference in Barcelona (2-5 September), we met with scholars from interdisciplinary backgrounds working on urban societies and the built environment both in historical and contemporary contexts.

Avant-Garde and Modernism Studies at EAM
The conference of the European Network for Avant-Garde and Modernism Studies (EAM) in Stockholm (2-4 September) brought together researchers working on modernism, the avant-garde, literature, art, architecture, and cultural history.
A particular highlight was the keynote lecture by Burcu Dogramaci, author of London Exile, Nomadic Camera, and Arrival Cities, all published by Leuven University Press.

History of the Low Countries
We were also pleased to attend the annual conference of the Vlaams-Nederlandse Vereniging voor Nieuwe Geschiedenis (VNVNG) in Antwerp on 4 September. In collaboration with the association, Leuven UP publishes the journal Nieuwe Tijdingen. The annual meeting provided an excellent opportunity to present recent issues of the journal, alongside our publications on the history of the Low Countries between 1500 and 1800.

Next Stop: BASICS in Ghent
Next on the agenda is the network meeting of the Belgian Association for the Study of Islam, Culture and Society (BASICS) in Ghent on 25 September. We look forward to presenting our newest titles in the peer-reviewed book series Islam, Culture and Society, together with other related Leuven UP publications.
